Women Development Department (WDD) organized a consultative session for the preparation of Punjab-Level Knowledge Sharing Workshop focusing on the report “Analysis of Data of Disability Assessment Boards of Social Welfare Department” on May 06, 2024 under “Integrating Women with Disabilities into Mainstream” project. The session was chaired by the Secretary of WDD.
Secretary of WDD, Ms. Sumaira Samad, provided a detailed overview of the knowledge-sharing workshop, the analysis of data relating to women with disabilities, and highlighted the challenges faced by women with disabilities and the difficulties they encounter in their daily lives. Additionally, Secretary of WDD elaborated on WDD's active engagement with various stakeholders, including the Social Welfare Department, Special Education, BISP, PSPA, and the Census Commissioner Punjab, to develop a reliable data-set for women with disabilities. Ms. Sumaira Samad further added that WDD aims to identify the barriers hindering the registration process for women with disabilities to enhance their registration for the disability assessment board and enable them to access benefits designed for their welfare.
During the session, Project Director Mr. Azher Abbas, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the project's objectives and achievements.
Representatives from the Social Welfare Department, Special Education Department, PWTD, TEVTA, BISP, PSPA, Labour and Human Resource Department, PESSI, GCU, LCWU, University of the Punjab, Society for Special Persons, VOICE, and PSRD were present during the consultative session.

The purpose of the session was to analyze the current situation of microfinancing for women in Punjab and explore the barriers faced by illiterate women entrepreneurs in accessing microfinance. In the conclusion of the session, participants explore into innovative approaches and best practices in microfinancing. They also formulated actionable strategies to enhance the effectiveness of microfinance programs for women in Punjab
